Ambazari Lake is one of the largest of all lakes in Nagpur City. It was built back in 1870 by the Bhonsle dynasty to supply water to residents of the city. The lake is encircled by a verdant embrace of mango trees. Its name ‘Ambazari’ is derived from the Marathi word ‘Amba’ meaning ‘Mango’. Over time, it has evolved into a main attraction. It’s also a popular leisure destination in the city. Ambazari Lake and Garden provide Nagpur residents with a serene escape from the urban hustle and bustle.

The official name of Ambazari Garden is Aadya Krantiguru Lahuji Salve Garden. Lahuji Salve was a Dalit activist, preacher, and freedom fighter. Many people also visit Ambazari Garden Lake to pay him tribute on his birth birth anniversary.

It is important to note that both of the images given below are real images from Ambazari Garden. The first notice is a permanent notice board which mentions the time as 5 AM to 6.30 PM and the second one is temporary which mentions the time as 6 AM to 9.30 AM. This may be due to the current weather in Nagpur. Summers are exceptionally hot in Nagpur with daytime temperatures rising up to 48 degree Celsius.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where an unmarried couple is sometimes restricted from accessing public places. Below is a photograph of the recent notice at Ambazari Garden that bans entry to unmarried couples. I had the same experience when I tried visiting Ambazari Lake with my girlfriend.
